eSMS – Statistics Made Simple

Overview
This is a 5-week fully online facilitated course designed to provide professionals in employment and research students who require a foundation course in statistics for basic data handling and statistical analysis, and would like to study online. The course is adapted to various statistical packages some of which are available at no cost. The course is appropriate for research personnel, research students, business managers, project managers, accountants, lecturers, teachers and anyone for whom an online basic foundation course in statistics would be appropriate.

The course is developed and owned by the Statistical Services Centre (SSC), University of Reading. AMI is partnering with the SSC to manage applications from Kenya and East Africa in general.
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, you will:
- Understand variability
- Be able to describe data well
- Be able to make good generalisations
- Understand the concepts and role of significance testing, including p-values.
- Have established the groundwork for statistical modelling.

How to pay
The fee for e-SMS is Khs 13,500 if paid by MPESA Paybill or directly deposited to the African Maths Initiative Kenyan Equity Bank Account.
If payment is by credit/debit card, the fees is 99 GBP.
This fee covers all course costs, and participants don’t have to travel away from home! For bulk bookings please contact us. We do not offer an academic discount for this course.
