Nationwide Maths Camps
The Challenge
Students generally perceive maths as a difficult and boring subject and are only exposed to calculation and formulas.
Consequently, they develop a negative attitude towards the subject which prevents them achieving their potential and aquiring vital skills.
The Initiative
AMI proposes a 3 year plan to deliver 3 day school maths camps across the country, engaging secondary school students in interesting and exciting maths activities.
The camps will follow the structure of our university-based maths camps, proven to change students’ attitude and impove performance.
Implementation
Year 1: Run school camps locally and engage university maths clubs across the country in activities to identify possible school camp leaders.
Year 2: Set up one university student led project which delivers school camps..
Year 3: Replicate the project across the country with the university students identified through maths clubs.
